How ratings work
Every player has a rating. It is the engine behind balanced matches, the leaderboard and your level badge, and it moves after every set you play.
Winners take points from losers
After each set, the winning pair takes rating points from the losing pair. Ratings are zero-sum: what one side gains, the other loses.
Harder wins are worth more
Beating a stronger team moves your rating a lot; a favourite beating an underdog moves it very little. An even match sits in between.
Margins matter
A 6-0 moves more points than a 7-6. Tight sets transfer less.
Injuries never distort it
A set interrupted by injury is recorded as a retirement and moves nobody's rating. Sets that never started don't count.
Example: your pair (combined 3510) faces a pair at 3390. Win 6-3 and you each take around 5 points from them; lose and you each hand over around 8, because you were the favourites.
